On the night of Friday 8th September, a large earthquake struck close to Marrakesh in Morocco – the deadliest earthquake Morocco has experienced since 1960.
Then in the early hours of Monday 11th September, after the worst storm in recent Libyan history, two dams collapsed flooding the coastal city of Derna in Libya.
Thousands have been killed and injured, with death tolls rapidly increasing. Huge numbers have also been left homeless.
